Two Acts of Compassion Bring Hope to a Family and a Student in Akwanga
ES-23 Akwanga Weekly Outreach Report
13 September 2026
At Empowered Servants Global Initiative (ESGI), we believe that meaningful impact often begins with paying attention to the people around us and responding when we discover a genuine need.
During the week, two encounters in Akwanga provided opportunities to offer practical support, encouragement, and hope to individuals facing difficult circumstances.
Supporting a Young Child in Need of Medical Care
While running an errand, an ESGI volunteer noticed a two-year-old boy with visible swelling around his face and abdomen.
Concerned, she asked to speak with his mother and was taken to their apartment. After introducing herself and sharing the Word of God, she asked about the child’s condition.
The mother became emotional as she explained that her son was dealing with a kidney-related health condition and required regular medical treatment. The family had already spent the resources they had available and was struggling to keep up with his medical needs.
Moved by compassion, the ESGI volunteer provided ₦10,000 to help the mother take her son to the hospital for the care he needed.
The support brought great joy and relief to the family.
Helping a Student Continue Her Education
In another encounter, the volunteer met one of her students who had been absent from school for some time.
When asked about her absence, the student explained that she had lost her father and had also lost her mother at birth. She was now living with her aunt, who was unable to afford the expenses required to keep her in school.
The student was particularly worried about her upcoming WAEC examinations and did not know how she would continue her education or prepare adequately.
The ESGI volunteer provided ₦5,000 to help her purchase books and encouraged her to return to school while she worked with the school management to explore how she could continue her studies.
The student was deeply moved by the assistance and became emotional as she expressed her gratitude.
Impacting Lives One at a Time
These two encounters highlight different needs—a child requiring medical attention and a student struggling to remain in school—but both presented opportunities to offer timely assistance and encouragement.
At ESGI, we are grateful for the opportunity to serve people in practical ways and to be part of stories that bring hope during challenging seasons.
We remain committed to our mission of Impacting Lives One at a Time, trusting God for continued provision and greater opportunities to serve individuals, families, and communities.
One act of compassion can bring hope. One helping hand can change a moment. Together, we can impact lives one at a time.
