ESGI Supports a Student's School Resumption and a Child's Medical Care in Osogbo

ES Team 17 Weekly Outreach Report
Location: Osogbo, Osun State
Date: 20 September 2026

At Empowered Servants Global Initiative (ESGI), we believe that practical acts of compassion can make a meaningful difference in people’s everyday lives. During the week, two individuals in Osogbo received timely assistance—one to return to school and another to access medication for her sick child.

Helping a Young Student Return to School

Hxxxx, a young boy attending a government-owned school, had been unable to resume school following the start of the new academic session because he did not have the required school uniform.

Living with his mother, he had previously received some personal assistance from the ESGI volunteer. Because of the relationship and trust that had developed, he felt comfortable approaching the volunteer to explain his situation and ask for help.

Assistance was provided toward the purchase of materials required to make his school uniform, at a cost of ₦3,600.

The materials were handed to the ES Team Lead, Sister Hxxxx, who graciously took the boy’s measurements and made the uniform without charging for her service.

The completed uniform was handed over to Habeeb on Sunday. Both the student and his parent expressed their gratitude.

With this challenge resolved, the young student was expected to return to school the following day and continue his education with renewed confidence.

Supporting a Mother Seeking Medication for Her Child

In another encounter, Mrs. Oxxxxx, a woman who earns a living selling akara and eko near the volunteer’s home, approached while carrying her sick daughter.

She explained that the child needed medication, including antibiotics, but the money she had was insufficient to complete the purchase.

She initially asked to borrow ₦5,000 to cover the outstanding amount. However, rather than treating the money as a loan, the volunteer chose to provide the ₦5,000 as direct assistance toward the child’s treatment.

The volunteer also prayed for the child and expressed hope that she would receive the required medication and recover.

At the time this report was prepared, there had not yet been a follow-up update regarding the child’s condition.

Practical Compassion in Action

These two interventions highlight the different ways practical support can bring hope.

For one young student, assistance with a school uniform removed a barrier to returning to class. For another family, financial support helped provide medication for a sick child.

At ESGI, we remain committed to Impacting Lives One at a Time, responding to genuine needs with compassion and generosity while trusting God for continued provision.

We are grateful to every empowered servant who contributes to making these interventions possible.

A uniform for a student. Medication for a child. Two needs met through one heart of compassion.
