At ESGI, we believe that true impact begins when compassion moves beyond observation into action. This week’s outreach in Abuja is a powerful reminder that sometimes, the smallest prompting can lead to life-changing support for someone in need.

A Moment That Couldn’t Be Ignored

While taking a walk along a busy road in Abuja, Ekeh noticed a woman roasting corn under the intense afternoon sun. What stood out was not just the harsh conditions, but the lack of customers—she sat there with little to no patronage, trying to earn a living.

Nearby, two young children played on a makeshift wooden couch. In a moment that quickly turned concerning, one of the toddlers nearly fell headfirst. Ekeh immediately called the mother’s attention, preventing what could have been a serious accident.

The woman responded with gratitude, appreciating the concern shown toward her child.

At that point, it could have ended as a simple act of kindness—but it didn’t.

Choosing to Do More

As Ekeh walked away, there was a strong inner prompting to go beyond words and take action.

Responding to that leading, Ekeh returned to the woman and requested her contact details, opening the door for a deeper conversation later.

During their phone discussion, the weight of her situation became clear.

A Story of Strength Amid Struggles

The woman shared her story—a journey marked by hardship and resilience.

She had been abandoned by the man she lived with, left alone to care for her children. Though they were not legally married, she had sought help through her church in hopes of resolving the situation, but no lasting solution was found.

Eventually, she was advised to move forward and focus on raising her children on her own.

Since then, she has taken on the responsibility fully, doing everything she can to provide for her children through her small corn-roasting business.

Despite the challenges, she continues to show strength and determination.

An Act of Support and Encouragement

Moved by her story and her perseverance, Ekeh offered both spiritual and practical support.

She was encouraged to place her trust fully in Christ—believing that He alone can bring lasting help and restoration.

In addition, a sum of ₦10,000 was sent to her as “Jesus Money” through ESGI, aimed at supporting and boosting her small business.

A Heart Touched

Her response was deeply emotional.

She was moved to tears, overwhelmed by the unexpected act of kindness. At a time when she least expected help, support came—bringing not just financial relief, but renewed hope.

The Power of Obedience and Compassion

This story highlights an important truth: impact often begins with sensitivity and willingness to act.

What started as a simple observation turned into a meaningful intervention—one that will help a mother continue to provide for her children and strengthen her hope for the future.

A Call to Continue Making a Difference

At ESGI, we remain committed to responding to needs as they arise—supporting individuals, strengthening families, and restoring hope in practical ways.

Every act of kindness matters. Every response to a need counts. Together, we continue to transform lives—one moment, one person, one story at a time.
