An Encounter at the Bus Stop
On a typical morning, while heading out, Bolu encountered a young lady at a bus stop. The scene was both familiar and revealing—she was negotiating with a tricycle rider, pleading to be transported for ₦200, even though the standard fare was ₦400.
It was clear she was trying to make the most of what little she had.
Curious and concerned, Bolu engaged her in conversation to better understand her situation.
A Struggle Behind a New Opportunity
She shared that she had recently secured a small job—an opportunity she deeply valued as it represented a step toward independence and stability.
However, there was a challenge.
The cost of daily transportation had become a burden she could barely manage. She revealed that on several occasions, she had missed work simply because she could not afford the fare to get there.
For someone just starting out, consistency is critical. Missing work not only affects income but also puts the opportunity itself at risk.
Despite her determination to build an honest and stable life, she found herself at the edge of losing that chance due to financial constraints.
A Timely Intervention
Recognizing both her determination and the importance of sustaining her new job, Bolu stepped in to help.
Through ESGI, a sum of ₦5,000 was provided as transportation support—giving her the means to commute consistently and remain committed to her work.
