A Simple Gift of Shoes Opens a Door for the Gospel

ESGI Weekly Outreach Report | 10 August 2026

At Empowered Servants Global Initiative (ESGI), we believe that seemingly simple acts of kindness can become opportunities to demonstrate God’s love and bring hope to people in need.

During the week, an ESGI volunteer encountered a young girl named Esther walking around her neighbourhood wearing mismatched shoes.

Concerned about her situation, the volunteer approached her and asked why she was wearing different shoes. Esther explained that her mother could not afford to buy her a proper pair.

A Simple Act of Kindness

Moved by what she had heard, the volunteer encouraged Esther and assured her that God would provide.

Rather than allowing the moment to end with words alone, she went to the market and purchased three pairs of shoes for the young girl.

When she arrived at Esther’s home with the shoes, her mother was deeply touched by the gesture. During their conversation, she also shared concerns about her niece and asked for prayers.

A Door for the Gospel

The encounter became more than an act of material support.

The volunteer encouraged the young girl and shared the message of Christ with her, leading her to Christ.

What began with a simple need for shoes became an opportunity for the love of Jesus to be demonstrated and His name to be made known.

It was a beautiful reminder that practical acts of compassion can open doors for deeper conversations about faith, hope, and the love of God.

Impacting Lives One at a Time

At ESGI, we remain committed to Impacting Lives One at a Time. We believe that every opportunity to meet a genuine need can also become an opportunity to show compassion, restore hope, and point people toward Christ.

For Esther, it was a gift of shoes. But beyond the shoes, the encounter brought encouragement, care, and an opportunity to hear about Jesus.

One act of kindness can open a door. One life can be touched. One seed can produce lasting impact.
