A Conversation That Revealed a Hidden Desire
During a recent evangelism outreach, I had the opportunity to speak with Sister Kxxxxx, a Christian sister from a humble background.
She had previously worked as a sales girl, but her earnings had not been enough to adequately meet her needs.
Since she was already born again, I encouraged her to continue growing in her relationship with the Lord and to deepen her walk with Him.
As our conversation continued, I asked whether there was any particular challenge she was currently facing.
What she shared revealed more than a need—it revealed a desire for a new skill and a better future.
A Desire to Learn and Build
Sister Kxxxxx told me about her desire to learn baking and catering, including the preparation of small chops and other pastries.
She had been interested in learning these skills for some time, but the cost of training had prevented her from taking the step.
I asked her why baking and catering were particularly important to her.
She explained that the desire had repeatedly come to her, and she had also received a prophetic word in the past indicating that the Lord would have her learn something in that area.
For her, learning the skill was not simply about acquiring knowledge. It represented an opportunity to develop a means of livelihood and potentially build something sustainable with her hands.
When Opportunity Meets Preparation
The estimated cost of the training was about ₦70,000, depending on the training center and the scope of the programme.
Although ₦70,000 was beyond what she could currently afford, the inability to pay the full amount did not mean the journey had to stop.
I prayed with her concerning her desire and felt led to support her.
I asked for her account details and sent her ₦13,000 as I was impressed in my heart to give.
She was deeply grateful for the support.
A Seed Toward Something Greater
The ₦13,000 may not cover the entire cost of the training, but it represents something significant: a seed toward a greater opportunity.
True empowerment is not always about meeting an immediate need. Sometimes, it means helping someone take a step toward acquiring a skill that can become a source of income and independence.
We trust God to raise more people who will support Sister Kxxxxx as she pursues this goal and provide the resources necessary for her to complete the training.
Our prayer is that this desire will become a skill, the skill will become an opportunity, and the opportunity will become a sustainable means of livelihood.
Empowering People Beyond the Moment
This encounter reminds us of the importance of listening.
When we take time to engage people beyond their immediate circumstances, we often discover dreams, abilities, and aspirations waiting to be nurtured.
Through ESGI, we desire not only to provide immediate assistance but also to contribute toward people’s growth, development, and ability to build better futures.
A financial gift can meet a need today.
But when that gift contributes to someone’s capacity to earn, create, and build, its impact can extend far beyond the moment.
Gratitude to the ESGI Family
I am grateful to every leader, financier, and co-empowered servant who continues to make these expressions of God’s love possible.
May God continue to use ESGI to reach people, strengthen communities, nurture potential, and empower lives.
We trust Him to provide the remaining resources Sister Kxxxxx needs and to establish the work of her hands.
All glory be to God.
ESGI: Serving. Empowering. Transforming Lives.
At Empowered Servants Global Initiative, we believe that compassion should go beyond words.
It should be expressed through practical support, encouragement, opportunities, and empowerment.
Sometimes, all someone needs is a helping hand to take the next step.
For Sister Kxxxxx, that step has begun.
