ESGI Supports a Mother of Three Battling Illness in Benue State
ES-24 Benue State Weekly Outreach Report
7 August 2026
At Empowered Servants Global Initiative (ESGI), we believe that no one should have to face a difficult season without compassion and support. Through our outreach efforts, we continue to look for opportunities to respond to genuine needs and demonstrate the love of Christ in practical ways.
During the week, an ESGI volunteer encountered a mother of three who was going through a serious health challenge and struggling to access the care she needed.
A Mother in Need
The volunteer had noticed the woman, whom we will refer to as Dxxxxxx, passing by regularly on a motorcycle and appearing unwell.
The seriousness of her condition became clearer when she stopped at a nearby POS operator and pleaded for financial assistance to obtain treatment. With no money available, she offered her bag and phone as collateral, promising to repay the money the following day.
Thankfully, the POS operator agreed to help her.
The situation deeply touched the ESGI volunteer, who decided to follow up with her the next day.
A Timely Intervention
After speaking with her and learning more about her circumstances, the volunteer discovered that she was battling leukaemia and needed significant support.
Moved by compassion and a desire to help, the volunteer provided ₦20,000 toward her needs:
₦15,000 from ESGI funds
₦5,000 from personal funds
The volunteer also accompanied her to her home and prayed with her.
A Grateful Family
The following day, the woman returned with her mother to express their gratitude.
Her mother offered a heartfelt prayer, asking that help would continually locate the source through which assistance had reached her daughter.
It was a touching reminder of the impact that even one act of kindness can have on an individual and an entire family.
Impacting Lives One at a Time
This encounter reflects the heart of ESGI’s mission: Impacting Lives One at a Time.
Beyond financial assistance, the intervention provided an opportunity for encouragement, prayer, and human connection during a challenging season.
We are grateful to God for the opportunity to serve and for everyone whose generosity makes interventions like this possible.
Together, we can continue to reach people in need, restore hope, and demonstrate the love of Christ through practical action.
One person helped. One family encouraged. One life impacted.
