ES 22 Abuja Supports Three Children with Learning Materials

ES 22 Abuja | September Weekly Outreach Report

“Impacting Lives One at a Time.”

Calvary greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

Sometimes, a simple encounter can become an opportunity to make a lasting difference in someone’s life.

During the month of September, a member of ES 22 Abuja had an unexpected encounter with a mother and her three children that opened the door for a practical act of kindness and support.

While visiting a shop to purchase some items, our team member, Victor, noticed a woman, Mrs. W****, with her three children. The mother was asking the shop owner for three 40-leaf exercise books and pencils for the children.

However, the children appeared unhappy and were quietly grumbling.

Victor asked them what was wrong. Their mother was initially hesitant to speak, but one of the children explained that they were preparing to resume school the following day and needed more writing materials. Their mother could only afford to purchase a limited number of books at the time.

The family had recently moved into the neighbourhood, and because of their circumstances, the children had been unable to attend school during the previous term. Thankfully, a school had offered them subsidized admission, giving them another opportunity to continue their education.

What remained was the challenge of providing the necessary school supplies.

The mother had planned to buy just one exercise book for each child initially, trusting God to provide the rest.

Victor encouraged her, reminding her that God is a provider, and then asked how much it would cost to provide a dozen exercise books for each child.

After making enquiries, he discovered that a dozen books cost ₦2,000 per child. He then provided ₦5,000 to enable the mother to purchase the needed exercise books and other writing materials for the children.

The joy on the faces of the mother and her children was evident. They expressed their gratitude and prayed for Victor, but he reminded them to give all the glory to God.

This outreach is a beautiful reminder that impact does not always require something extraordinary. Sometimes, a school book, a pencil, a timely financial gift, or simply noticing someone’s need can make a meaningful difference.

For these three children, the support meant more than receiving writing materials. It meant starting a new school chapter with greater confidence and knowing that someone cared enough to help.

We are grateful to God for the opportunity given to ES 22 Abuja to be a blessing and to continue the work of Empowered Servants Global Initiative (ESGI)—reaching people with practical love, compassion, and support.
