At ESGI, we believe that acts of kindness often carry the greatest impact when they come unexpectedly—especially for those navigating daily struggles just to survive. This week’s outreach in Abuja is a simple yet powerful reminder that even small gestures can restore hope and strengthen faith.

An Encounter in a Moment of Need

During this week’s outreach, Ojali met two women within a residential estate in Abuja. They were actively searching for menial jobs, hoping to earn enough to meet their basic needs, particularly feeding.

Their situation reflected the reality many face daily—uncertainty, financial pressure, and the constant search for opportunities to survive.

Rather than just observing, Ojali engaged them in a conversation.

Sharing Faith and Encouragement

As the conversation unfolded, it became clear that both women were already believers. However, communication presented a small challenge, as one of the women did not understand English, so the other woman stepped in to interpret, ensuring that both could fully participate in the discussion.

Together, they shared a moment of encouragement—speaking about Christ, hope, and God’s ever-present love, even in difficult circumstances.

Despite their pressing needs and urgency to find work, they chose to pause and engage in the conversation. That openness created a meaningful connection.

A Blessing Without Conditions

Moved by their situation and their willingness to listen, Ojali felt led to bless them.

Since neither of them had a bank account, they all proceeded to a nearby POS location where cash could be withdrawn. A total of ₦10,000 was given—shared equally between the two women, ₦5,000 each.

This act was not tied to any service or expectation.

It was simply a gift.

A Moment of Joy and Surprise

Their reaction was heartfelt and unforgettable.

They expressed surprise and excitement, amazed that they received money without having to work for it. Repeatedly, they asked if there was any job they could do in return.

However, they were gently reminded that this was not payment—it was a blessing from Jesus, given freely out of love.

That realization brought even deeper gratitude.

They rejoiced, giving thanks to God for remembering them in that moment of need.
