Calvary greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
At Empowered Servants Global Initiative (ESGI), we believe that every child deserves an opportunity to learn, grow, and discover their potential, regardless of their family’s financial circumstances.
During this week’s outreach, ES 25 Abuja visited a government primary school within a community in Abuja as part of their ongoing commitment to supporting children whose families struggle to provide basic educational needs.
The team regularly visits the school at the beginning of each new school term to check on the children they support and assist with their school fees. Currently, about 15 children in the school are beneficiaries of this support.
Giving Children a Chance to Learn
Before receiving support, some of these children, between the ages of 8 and 11, had never had the opportunity to receive proper primary education. Some had resorted to hawking and other activities to help their parents survive.
Their families were living in difficult financial circumstances, yet they were willing to allow their children to receive assistance so they could have an opportunity to attend school.
During this particular visit, the head teacher shared the story of one of the pupils with the outreach team.
The head teacher explained that the child’s parents, alongside the parents of two other pupils, had been unable to complete payment for their children’s school books and other basic educational needs during the previous term. With a new term beginning, they were still unable to meet the required expenses.
According to the head teacher, the children were eager to attend school and learn, but their families’ financial situation continued to stand in the way.
Responding to a Need
Moved by compassion and a desire to help children from less privileged backgrounds, the ES 25 Abuja representative decided to provide immediate assistance.
The basic school fee and educational expenses for each child amounted to approximately ₦17,500, excluding optional costs.
Although the full amount could not be provided at that moment, ₦10,000 was given directly to the head teacher to help meet some of the children’s immediate needs while the team prepared to return for the payment of the school fees of their regular beneficiaries.
The support provided a temporary relief and, more importantly, communicated to the children and their families that their education and future matter.
The outreach representative expressed a desire to also support the two other children when the team returns, trusting God for the provision needed to meet their needs.
Every Child Carries Great Potential
This outreach reflects an important truth: poverty should not be allowed to determine the future of a child.
Every child carries potential, gifts, and the possibility of becoming a source of positive change in their community. Sometimes, all they need is an opportunity, someone to believe in them, and the support required to take the next step.
Through initiatives such as this, ESGI continues to demonstrate practical compassion by standing with vulnerable individuals and families and helping to relieve some of the burdens they face.
We are grateful to God for the opportunity to serve and for every person who gives, prays, and supports the work of impacting lives.
