ES 27 Abuja Responds with Compassion to a Nursing Student in Need

ES 27 Abuja | Weekly Outreach Report
Date: 28 September 2026

“Impacting Lives One at a Time.”

Greetings, brethren.

Sometimes, an opportunity to serve comes in the form of simply noticing that someone is struggling.

During a recent outreach at the FCT College of Nursing, ES 27 Abuja encountered a student, Pxxxxxxx, who appeared visibly unwell and weak.

Concerned about her condition, the ESGI representative spoke with her, prayed with her, and encouraged her to get the necessary medication. The student explained that she did not have enough money at the time, but that she had already contacted her parents and was expecting assistance from them.

After encouraging her, the representative left, trusting that she would soon be able to access the care she needed.

A More Urgent Situation

The following day, Pxxxxxxx was encountered again. Her condition had worsened significantly. She was vomiting and appeared extremely weak.

When asked whether she had been able to obtain her medication, she explained that she had not. Her parents had told her that they were unable to send the money because of their own financial difficulties.

Seeing the urgency of the situation, the ESGI representative immediately took her to the hospital.

At the hospital, a hospital card had to be obtained before she could receive treatment, requiring an immediate cash payment of ₦2,500.

Although there was no cash available at the time, the representative withdrew ₦8,650, including the ₦150 POS charge, and used the funds to cover the hospital card and other immediate needs.

From the available ESGI funds, ₦6,000 was used to purchase some of the medication she required. The representative personally contributed additional funds to complete the medication bill, ensuring that the ESGI support limit was not exceeded.

After she had received attention, she was left in the care of one of her roommates while the representative attended to other responsibilities.

A Family Facing Financial Pressure

Later, Pxxxxxxx sent a message expressing her appreciation for the care and assistance she had received.

A subsequent conversation revealed that her situation extended beyond her immediate medical needs. Her parents were still unable to send her money, leaving her without enough resources even for some of her basic personal needs.

She explained that her parents are farmers and have been experiencing significant financial difficulties. With other siblings currently in school, the family is carrying several financial responsibilities at once.

The ESGI representative encouraged her, extended regards to her family, and shared the love of God with her, reminding her that she is not alone and that God sees her situation.

Compassion in a Moment of Need

This outreach is a reminder that compassion often begins with paying attention.

A simple encounter at a school became an opportunity to provide medical assistance, encouragement, prayer, and practical support to a young student facing a difficult moment.

For Pxxxxxxx, the intervention was not only about medication or hospital expenses. It was also a reminder that there are people willing to stand with her when circumstances become overwhelming.

ESGI is grateful for the opportunity to respond to genuine needs in our communities and to demonstrate God’s love through practical acts of service.

We sincerely appreciate every ESGI sponsor and servant whose generosity makes this work possible. Special appreciation goes to Pst. Lendert and the ESGI team for their continued love, compassion, and passion for reaching people.

May God continue to strengthen every hand that gives, every heart that serves, and every person committed to relieving the burdens of others.
