ESGI Supports a Young Boy Facing Family Hardship

ESGI Outreach Report | 9 August 2026

At Empowered Servants Global Initiative (ESGI), we believe that sometimes a simple act of kindness can provide much-needed hope to someone going through a difficult season.

During a recent Sunday encounter, an ESGI volunteer reconnected with a 17-year-old boy who had previously been working at a gas station and regularly attending church.

A Difficult Turn of Events

The volunteer had noticed that the young boy had stopped coming to church and was no longer seen at the gas station where he worked. When they eventually met again, the volunteer asked about his absence.

The young boy explained that his father had been involved in a motorcycle accident and suffered a fractured knee. Because of his father’s condition, he had been staying at home to help care for him.

Unfortunately, while attending to his family responsibilities, he lost his job after his employer replaced him.

He was therefore left searching for another opportunity while also trying to support his family during a challenging period.

A Timely Intervention

After church service that Sunday, the young boy shared that he needed assistance with transportation to return home. In response, ESGI provided ₦5,000 to help him with the immediate need.

The support brought great excitement and relief to him. He expressed his gratitude, but he was reminded to give thanks to God, who remains the ultimate source of help and provision.

Impacting Lives One at a Time

This encounter is a reminder that people can face difficult circumstances quietly, and sometimes all it takes is someone noticing, asking, and responding with compassion.

At ESGI, we remain committed to our mission of Impacting Lives One at a Time—standing with individuals and families in moments of need and providing practical support where possible.

Every contribution, prayer, and act of service helps make these interventions possible.

Together, we can continue to bring hope, compassion, and practical assistance to those who need it most.
