Sometimes, the need for compassion finds us in quiet, unexpected moments. This was the case for Faith Oluwseun Mark, an Empowered Servant in Osogbo, when Mrs. Veronica, an elderly woman in the neighborhood, approached her for help.

Mrs. Veronica shared her struggles candidly. Over the years, she had tried several small businesses, including selling charcoal, but none succeeded. Many customers took items on credit and failed to pay, leaving her in debt and without any means of income. Over time, her businesses collapsed, and she found it increasingly difficult to provide basic necessities, including food, for herself and her family.

Moved by her situation, Faith offered support through the Empowered Servants Program. She sent ₦15,000 to help Mrs. Veronica purchase food and ease the burden of daily survival. The elderly woman was overwhelmed with gratitude, thanking Faith repeatedly and offering prayers from her heart.

This encounter demonstrates the core mission of ESGI: responding to urgent needs with compassion, practical support, and love — bringing relief and restoring hope to individuals in vulnerable situations.

Reflection

Mrs. Veronica’s story is a testament to the power of small acts of generosity. Through ESGI, volunteers like Faith are able to provide meaningful support to those in need, showing that even a single act of kindness can bring hope, restore dignity, and make a tangible difference in someone’s life.
