A Timely Act of Kindness at the Market: Restoring Dignity Through Giving

At the core of the Empowered Servants Global Initiative (ESGI) is a simple but powerful mandate—to reflect the love of Christ through practical acts of compassion, especially in moments when people feel helpless and unseen.

During a routine visit to a local Mallam’s store, an Empowered Servant encountered a situation that highlighted the daily struggles many individuals quietly endure.

A Moment of Need

Mrs. Blessing, a regular customer at the store, had come to purchase basic provisions for her household. Unfortunately, she did not have enough cash and asked the store owner if she could buy the items on credit. She gently reminded him that she was a consistent customer and had always paid back whenever she bought goods on credit in the past.

Despite her pleas and good history, the store owner declined, explaining that he was not selling on credit that day. Mrs. Blessing stood there unsure of what to do next, clearly distressed and embarrassed by the situation.

Love in Action

Moved with compassion, the Empowered Servant stepped in and asked Mrs. Blessing how much she needed to complete her purchase. She replied that the items amounted to ₦2,500.

Without hesitation, her details were collected and ₦2,500 was gifted to her to cover the cost of the provisions. With this support, Mrs. Blessing was able to pay for the items she needed and leave the store with relief and restored dignity.

Her gratitude was heartfelt, and the moment became a powerful reminder that sometimes, a small act of kindness can make a profound difference.
