Reaching a Single Father with Hope and Practical Support in Ogbomosho
At the heart of the Empowered Servants Global Initiative (ESGI) is a simple but powerful conviction: the Gospel must be lived, not just spoken. This impact story from Ogbomosho, Oyo State, is a reminder that God often positions us in unfamiliar places to meet very familiar needs.
An Unexpected Encounter During Ministry Outreach
Last week, while I traveled to Ogbomosho to attend a Ministers’ Conference in Oyo State, an opportunity for outreach presented itself during one of the conference break sessions. Alongside a friend, we decided to reach out to members of the local community where the meeting was being held, sharing the message of Christ beyond the walls of the conference venue.
It was during this outreach that we met Samuel, a roadside mechanic working diligently in his small workshop.
A Heart Open to the Gospel
Samuel welcomed us warmly into his workspace. Not only did he listen attentively to the message we shared, but he also received it with sincerity and openness of heart. It was clear that the Word resonated deeply with him, and the interaction was both encouraging and humbling.
As we prepared to leave, Samuel opened up about his personal struggles—details he had quietly carried for some time.
A Heavy Burden Behind the Smile
Samuel shared that he is a single father. His wife had left some time ago, unable to cope with the pressure of their difficult living conditions. Since then, his five-year-old daughter has been living with his mother, and together they have been struggling to get by.
Although Samuel works hard at his mechanic trade, the business has not been very profitable, leaving him unable to meet even basic obligations consistently. One issue weighed heavily on him: his refuse utility bill of ₦4,000, which was already overdue and causing him embarrassment in his small apartment.
A Timely Act of Compassion
Deeply touched by Samuel’s story, I felt led to offer practical support. Through the Empowered Servants Initiative, I cleared his outstanding utility bill and gave him an additional ₦5,000 to help him address some immediate needs.
In total, ₦9,000 was given to Samuel.
This act, though modest in amount, carried great significance for him. It lifted a burden, restored dignity, and reminded him that he was not alone—that God sees, cares, and provides through His people.
Living the Gospel, One Life at a Time
This encounter reaffirmed why ESGI exists: to bring hope where it is fading, support where it is lacking, and love where it is desperately needed. Samuel’s story is a testimony that ministry does not always happen on pulpits—it often unfolds in workshops, by roadsides, and in the quiet conversations of everyday life.
We are grateful for every Empowered Servant Financier whose faithfulness makes moments like this possible. Together, we continue to extend God’s love in tangible ways, one life and one story at a time.
