Christmas Outreach: Sharing Food, Faith, and Joy in Lugbe
Volunteer: Ojali Deborah Meliga
Location: Lugbe, Abuja
Date: December 28, 2025
Christmas is a season of giving, and for Ojali Deborah Meliga, an Empowered Servant in Abuja, it became a moment to share both the gospel and practical blessings. On Christmas Day, Ojali set out to minister to the security personnel of her estate, intending to preach the Word of God and offer a small gift of food.
While preparing three plates of food for the three security men, she felt a distinct prompting in her spirit: “Make it four.” Obeying, she prepared an extra plate. Upon arrival, she preached the gospel to the three men and led them in prayer. As she began, an elderly man opened the estate gate and joined the gathering. He explained that he had been listening from outside and had been spiritually blessed, deciding to participate in the prayers.
Ojali explained the extra plate of food and surprised each of them with a monetary gift of ₦5,000 per person. The elderly man, in particular, was amazed at the timing and how God had led her to prepare for him unknowingly. To ensure all were covered, she transferred ₦15,000 to one of the security personnel’s accounts for the three men and ₦5,000 directly to the elderly man.
The outreach not only brought practical support but also spiritual encouragement, joy, and a tangible expression of God’s love. The participants were overwhelmed with gratitude, and Ojali experienced great fulfilment in serving others during the festive season.
Reflection
This story reflects the heart of the Empowered Servants Program: Listening to God’s guidance in everyday encounters. Combining practical support with spiritual encouragement. Bringing joy, hope, and faith to individuals in the community.
Through ESGI, volunteers like Ojali continue to demonstrate that even small acts of obedience and generosity can profoundly impact lives and glorify God.
